It's progression is perfect, starting off mellow and slow before slowly evolving into a more rock-y track by the end. Moving on to the next track, we have Paranoid Android, which is genuinely one of the greatest songs ever made. The album starts off very strong with Airbag, a dreamy, atmospheric track where Thom Yorke is, "Back to save the uuuuuuuuniverse." Airbag is the baseline for the album, it contains all of the album's strong points while also showcasing why you're listening to OK Computer: Because it friggin slaps, bro. Anyways, let's get to some of the standout tracks, as OK Computer has an untouchable tracklist, all the songs are paced perfectly.Ĭhapter 3: I Was Not Let Down By These Tracks (haha, get it?) The acoustic guitars are even more prevalent, Thom Yorke's voice is absolutely beautiful and carries the album's dreamy atmosphere, and the drums cut through the mix even better than they did on The Bends. Anything that hasn't been mentioned here has been improved from The Bends.

Don't ask me to decipher it, though, there's a bunch of people who can do it much better, but to keep it simple, it's a thoughtful, introspective look on what it means to be human, or at least, that was my takeaway from it.

Unlike The Bends, OK Computer seems to have a consistent message throughout its songs. In fact, a lot of this sounds genuinely futuristic, something the album and it's lyrics are telling you. As the album's title and cover suggest, there are also tons of electronic noises scattered throughout the album, and unlike other media of a similar nature, I don't think these samples have aged badly at all. The guitar tones on this album are on point, the dreamy, light guitars from The Bends return with a bit of a glow up, alongside the louder, more pronounced rock tones that just explode with energy whenever they show up. There are much more tonal switch ups on this album, and a dynamic album needs dynamic production. Starting off with something that's been retooled, the production on this album is insane for '97. Let's just say what everybody else has been saying, and get to why OK Computer is as immaculate as it is.Ĭhapter 2: How To Bend The Bends (Changes From The Bends)Īs you could probably assume from my rating, The Bends is an amazing album, and while OK Computer isn't a massive shift in style, there are still some noticeable differences from this album and The Bends that I worth bringing up. The album's instrumentals are powerful, the vocals are magical, the flow is amazing, and the tracklist is unmatched. Get absolutely bamboozled, nerds! This is only a 95! I am no normie, I didn't give OK Computer a 100! Look at me go, ma! Jokes aside, I will happily agree with the masses, because this album is amazing! It's very easily one of the best albums I've had the pleasure of experiencing. The Officially Unofficial Radiohead BingeĬhapter 1: I'm Back To Save The Universe (Holy Shit)
